Family

Sam was born in Ft. Worth, Texas.  His father, Richard Gott, was of German ancestry and his mother, Jesse Lee Gott, was a native American-Indian (50% Cherokee & 50% Choctaw).  His family moved to San Antonio when he was 2 years old. 

Sam has been married to Janet Kay Johnson Gott since March 24, 1979.  Sam and Jan have four children: Keith Allen Gott, Gary Lee Gott, Clifford Allen Gott, and Kaylee Frances Gott, and six grandchildren. 

Sam attended Harlandale High School. 

Sam spent four years in the Navy and four years in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.  After the war, he went to college on the GI Bill.  Sam attended San Antonio Community College, St. Mary’s University, and Southwest Texas State.
